Springhill Suites- Waco, TX

In a somewhat last minute decision the family decided to head to Waco to hang out with some family friends.  We searched and searched for a cool hotel that we would enjoy.  Waco is somewhat void of cool hotels but what we found I now label as “the best hotel in Waco”.  I have not stayed in every hotel in Waco.

Only about a year old it’s technically located in the Woodway area and is about 7-10 minutes from campus.  That’s really far in Waco terms but not far at all in DFW so we didn’t mind being separated a little.

I wish I had better pictures of the lobby because it really was beautiful.  The fish tank was huge and the furniture was really nice with pretty fabrics.  The tile stripe was a textured metallic tile.  The front desk staff was incredibly nice.  We were impressed from the beginning.

This is a picture of one of the king rooms.  It’s a good size by itself but what you can’t see through that door is a sitting area with another TV, pullout sofa, chair, coffee table, counter area with mini fridge, sink, microwave and coffee maker.  You can shut the door between the two rooms which was perfect to give our son his own area where he could sleep.

This is another room type but I was trying to show the sitting area.  This one didn’t have the full wall dividing the rooms but even with that 1/2 wall it’s still nice.

This is the dining area behind the lobby.  In the afternoons they open up the bar for drinks and they have hot coffee and tea out all day.  In the mornings they serve a complimentary hot breakfast with waffles, eggs, bacon, fruit, cereals etc.  The food was great and again, the room was very pretty.  The circle in the ceiling had a light blue metallic finish and I love the carpet.

Here’s a view of the bar.

And here’s the reason we actually wanted to stay here.  They have an indoor pool with a fountain thing in the kids area.  I thought this would entertain our son without us getting in the pool.  Well, the baby pool part was too cold for him so my husband had to swim.  We were there during a cold snap in January so I’m guessing the baby pool isn’t always that cold.

Perks like super big rooms, free hot breakfast and kid play area at the pool make me wonder why we pay twice as much to stay at a four star hotel to pay $20 for a similar breakfast buffet.  We highly recommend, hope your stay is as good as ours.
